Lori Lieberman blev tagen av Don McLeans “Empty Chairs” på en konsert och skrev ner sina känslor och tog till
låtskrivarna Norman Gimbel och Charles Fox, som byggde låten utifrån hennes upplevelse.
Roberta Flack hörde Liebermans version av en slump på ett flygplan och ska ha sagt: “I have to record this song.”
Lori Lieberman fick fick ingen officiell credit.
